William Village is Chief Executive of Delfont Mackintosh Theatres. Prior to this, as an independent theatre producer and general manager, credits included James Graham’s Quiz (original commission, Chichester Festival Theatre, Noel Coward Theatre, UK tour, nominated for the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy) and the West End transfer of Crazy for You (Novello Theatre).
As Executive Producer and General Manager, credits included Motown the Musical (West End) and UK tours of The Mousetrap, and Vincent and Flavia’s Tango Moderno, The Last Tango and Dance ‘Til Dawn (also West End) (all for Adam Spiegel Productions Ltd).
William was an Executive Producer of the BAFTA nominated ITV/AMC three-part drama Quiz, based on the stage play by James Graham. Broadcast in the UK in April 2020 and in the US in May 2020, Quiz stars Michael Sheen as Chris Tarrant, Matthew Macfadyen as Charles Ingram and Sian Clifford as Diana Ingram.
Between 2003 and 2021, William was also Executive Director at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre. Together with the theatre’s Artistic Director, he produced 17 seasons at the 1,250-seat venue, including 44 plays, 2 operas and 19 musicals. Of these, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hello, Dolly!, Into the Woods and Crazy for You each won the Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival with Jesus Christ Superstar and Hello, Dolly! also winning the London Evening Standard Award for Best Musical. He was the originating co-producer of the revival of Into the Woods, which ran at the Delacorte Theater, Central Park, New York (2012) and Jesus Christ Superstar which transferred to the Lyric Opera, Chicago in 2018 ahead of a US tour from autumn 2019. Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre was voted London Theatre of the Year in 2017.
William read music as an organ scholar at Cambridge University. He is a member of the SOLT/BECTU negotiating committee, a director of the Heart of London Business Alliance and a trustee of Stage One.
